Tulip

Tulip

By Eva Juliette Tortora

I am comforted

by your silouette

reciting poetry in your sleep

like a psalm

telling stories

and sitting up

singing about your heart

and the miles it has grown

like butterflies spilling from your lips

playing the piano

like the holy ghost

counting bees

and tulips

watching the world go by

in an instant

singing about your heart

like jewels

and Im comforted

by your silouette

fast awake dreaming

of snow inside summer

of painting that ship

against a sunrise

in gentle tulips

gathered like thoughts washed  ashore

sleeping soundly

singing about storms

inside your heart.
